Annual Valentown Heritage Festival

Saturday June, 2nd 2007

If you are an annual visitor to Valentown's Peddlers Market you will notice a few changes this year.  First the event has been renamed Valentown Heritage Festival.  Also new will be live demonstrations by Blacksmiths, woodworkers, cobbler, broom maker, spinning wheels, tin making and many more.  The show will still have the usual quality antique dealers, artists & craft vendors but hopes are that the community will come out to support the society and have an entertaining day with the family.  Live entertainment will also be provided on Saturday with Jazz music and the Young School of Irish Dance.  The Festival takes place Saturday June 2nd, 2007 on the grounds of Valentown Museum across from Eastview Mall in Victor.

Valentown Museum, originally called Valentown Hall, is just one in a cluster of historic 19th century buildings at Valentown Square. In 1879, Levi and Alanson Valentine constructed the 5-story commercial structure on a busy crossroads homestead owned by their grandfather, Ichabod Town, with hopes the property would be a stop on the Pittsburgh, Shawmut, and Northern Railroad.

The Landmark building is a rare example of 19th century architecture and has remained almost unaltered since its original construction. It is filled with a vast collection of antiques, artifacts and heirlooms from early settlers of the area.       Come, reminisce and enjoy yourself. You'll be certain to find a treasure or two. Step back in time and find that perfect buy from the thousands of items from the past displayed on the grounds of Valentown Hall. Tour the fascinating museum and partake of the music and food.

All proceeds from the event go to the Victor Historical Society, which is continually working to revitalize the buildings creating a historical & educational village complex to be enjoyed by all ages for centuries to come.
